Acceptance Policy

Children’s House Montessori School does not discriminate on the basis of race, national or ethnic origin, religion, gender, disability, or sexual orientation. We embrace the diversity we experience in our school, from both the staff and the student body, and welcome families from all backgrounds into our community.

We use the following criteria for accepting individual students:

  1. Children must be 3 years old by September 30.
  2. Children should display a readiness and willingness to receive instruction and to learn.
  3. Children must be toilet-trained prior to their start date.

If your child does not meet these criteria, please give us a call at 703-481-6678 to discuss your options and lay out an enrollment plan based on your child’s needs.

Siblings of current or former CHMS students, Montessori transfer students, and siblings from our sister school Berthold Academy have priority in our waiting pool.

A peace pole stands on our playground. The words “May Peace Prevail on Earth” are carved in eight languages to represent the diversity of our school community: English, Spanish, Japanese, Swahili, Hindi, Vietnamese, Arabic, and “Animal Language” (a collection of paw prints and tracks to represent our love of nature and the animals in our backyard).
